I don’t really blog for my photography any more, but I felt that this deserved a little more than just a Tweet or a FB post.  If you happen to see this and need to contact me, I’m easily reached on Facebook at www.facebook.com/cofphoto or on Twitter at www.twitter.com/cofphoto

If you know us at all, you know we are HUGE Marvel and Agents of SHIELD fans.  Our 7 year old Son Gavin dressed us as “Kid Coulson” at 2013 SDCC and some of his photos have been retweeted by the Agents of SHIELD cast including Clark Gregg himself.

He was also interviewed for a TV show on Disney XD, but his interview was cut and never aired.  Here is a photo of him being interviewed at SDCC:

Our Son now has a fan page on Facebook, if you care to check him out at www.facebook.com/thegavinrichter You’ll find plenty of his cosplay photos there.  Here is one of my personal favorites.

We recently decided to remodel our Son’s play room in our home with a Marvel / SHIELD theme and this weekend put the finishing touches on it.

First, the focal point of the room, the main wall that you see when you enter.  A floor to ceiling SHIELD logo was taped off and painted on the wall.  In the center of the wall is a 16×24 inch photo of our Son with the Agents of SHIELD cast (thanks to Photoshop), printed on metal and mounted on 2″ standoffs.  Here is the photo.

Around the metal print are four 1/2″ thick pieces of plexiglass, two larger ones and two smaller ones, mounted on metal telescoping brackets (typically used for mounting a small TV on the wall).  On the four “control screens” are graphics that I created in Photoshop.  The idea is that they are Helicarrier control screens like the ones Nick Fury has in The Avengers.  Here are the four graphics.

Here is a photo of the finished product, with our Son’s drawing table below.  You’ll also notice Coulson’s Destroyer Gun up there on the wall.

Here is a closeup photo of the cast photo and a small shelf above it, with some items that Agent Coulson just might have at his desk.  Included is a postcard from Tahiti that reads “It’s a Magical Place”.  Also is the Exclusive EFX Agent Coulson Badge (thank you Jungle Fritz!!).

Closer inspection of the drawing table reveals a message from Mom and Dad.  You may recognize Dad’s message from Iron Man 2.  I tear up every time I hear Howard say that to Tony.  🙁

You may notice the little remote control there.  The Agents of SHIELD cast photo stands out from the wall about 2″ and has LED light strips behind it.  The remote controls those lights.  Looks awesome at night.

ADDED PHOTO:  We have since added something red to the desk area, here is a newly added photo.

On the adjacent wall we have four shadow boxes with props from four of Gavin’s favorite Marvel Super Heroes – Hawkeye, Deadpool, Captain America and Wolverine.  I built the boxes and my Wife painted them.

Above the shadow boxes is a long shelf with seven blank canvases.  Gavin absolutely LOVES to draw super heroes.  He will use these canvases to do some decorating of his own.  These are actually pretty reasonably priced if you catch a good sale at Michaels.  I think these seven 12×12 canvases were about $15.

On the opposite wall we have Gavin’s collectibles shelving.  The top shelf has a “decoupage” with the letters from his name, he and his Mom did that together.  It’s hard to tell from here, but each letter only has super heroes whose name begins with that letter.  So the G has Gambit and Ghost Rider, while the V has Venom and Vision, etc.

The middle shelf has a pair of Iron Man costume helmets and misc. other props.  These shelves will be used to display Gavin’s more expensive collectibles – things that he doesn’t play with, just for display.

On the bottom shelf are the bobbleheads, you’ll notice Spidey is hanging upside down, that’s thanks to a wonderful product called Blue Tack.  Great for temporarily sticking light weight things to a wall, etc.  Doesn’t harden, you can pull it down at any time.  There is plenty of space for new bobbleheads that Gavin will collect at future comic conventions.

Finally the last wall in the room is where the closet is.  My Wife sewed these beautiful curtains, made out of really cool Marvel fabric that we bought at Joann’s Fabrics.  I really love how this looks.

Well that’s it, I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour.  Please feel free to drop us a note on Facebook or Twitter if you like what we’ve done, or have any questions.

Thanks for looking!
