My second maternity photo shoot on Saturday was with the Badillo family. They are also expecting their first child, Arianna in July. Both Mommy and Daddy are active military, serving in the US Navy. I love photographing military families, especially in uniform. I can’t wait to meet little Arianna for her newborn photos.

Here are a few personal favorite photos from the Badillo’s maternity photo shoot:

Saturday afternoon I had the pleasure of shooting maternity photos for the Schendel family, who is expecting their first child in July. We’ll also be doing newborn photos when little Felicity is born. Here are some of my favorites from this maternity photo shoot:

Saturday was quite the busy day for us – three photo shoots! Saturday evening I met the Lopez family down at Coronado Beach for some fun family photos. It was a perfectly overcast evening with a little sea breeze in the air…and the dolphins swimming out in the ocean was a nice touch.

The Lopez family was also celebrating a 15th birthday, so the focus was on the birthday girl. Here are a few favorites from this family beach photo shoot at Coronado:

More photos from Memorial Day at Rosecrans Military Cemetery.

Don’t just breeze through these, take a minute to actually read some of the head stones. They really do tell a story. Being in a place like this really makes you stop and think…it sure puts things into perspective.

Did you even notice that one of the men in the previous post died at Pearl Harbor?

It’s become a tradition. Every year on the Tuesday after Memorial Day, I get up before sunrise and drive down to Rosecrans Military Cemetery here in San Diego. Rosecrans is the home to over 96,000 members of our military. It’s one of those very unique places that truly commands your attention and tugs at your very soul.

Normally a great place for photography, it’s even better over Memorial Day weekend. That’s because every year the Boy Scouts come out and place a US flag on each and every grave site. With the flags added the cemetery is simply breathtaking. I never get tired of photographing it.

This was the fourth year in a row that I’ve done this, so it gets increasingly difficult to find new angles and perspectives. But I think I did a pretty good job this year.

I will share more in a couple of days, but here are a few early favorite photos from Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego:
