Studio portraits 04.26.07

Quite a lot of variety today. We photographed family portraits, newborn portraits, headshots, and three year old portraits - all in the same session!



First, the star of the show. This little guy is just two weeks old. He slept through the first half of the session, but came to life for the second half.



Then there were family portraits - including the dog Oscar! He wasn't too thrilled about being away from the comforts of home, but he still did pretty well.



Next a beautiful three year old princess. Pretty in pink.



And last but not least, headshots for Dad!

Newborn photos 04.24.07

Tonight we had the pleasure of photographing Eetu, a beautiful six day old baby boy.



Mommy and Daddy also did their maternity photographs with us, and it's always great to see new Mommies and Daddies with their bundles of joy. =)

Portrait photography at the Hotel Del Coronado 04.21.07

This evening I had the pleasure of photographing Butch and Cecilia, who are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary (congratulations!!)



We did some photos at the hotel and out on the beach, some in more formal clothing and the rest in casual clothing.



It was a beautiful evening, a tad breezy and chilly but clear and sunny.

Army / Navy game, 04.20.07

What a fun shoot this afternoon. Stacy (who is in the Army) and Steve (who is in the Navy) wanted portraits together. Steve is leaving for Kuwait very soon.



Luckily, they were interested in shooting with our new red backdrop, which looks VERY cool. Here I had the lighting set up such that the red looked black.



And, they liked the flag backdrop so we got to use that as well. I love shooting with the flag, it just looks so cool when lit properly.



For something a bit different, I also shot a couple of silouette photos using the flag.

Beach photos at the Hotel Del Coronado 04.16.07

Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing a fun group at the beach.



The surf was high and rough, and we had to dodge some serious waves to get the reflection pictures.



We also used the rocks and the concrete wall as a backdrop, with some big waves in the background.



And finally a fun photograph of Mom on the wall. ;)

Newborn photos 04.14.07

This morning we had the privilege of meeting a new addition, a beautiful eight day old bouncing baby boy.



He needed a couple of milk breaks, and wouldn't let the pacifier (now called a "silencer" by the way) out of his sight. But in between milk and silencer breaks, he let us get in a couple of nice pictures. ;)



Mommy & Daddy also visited us for their maternity portraits, so it was great to see them again, and to meet the new little guy (was ours ever this small?)

Beach portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado 04.13.07

Tonight we had a portrait session at the Hotel Del Coronado. Friday the 13th, but it would seem that we both survived the ordeal. ;)



Got some great photos at the gazebo, in front of the hotel and of course at the beach.



Also a nice variety of clothing, from formal to casual.

Maternity portraits 04.10.07

Today we photographed a young couple expecting their second child, Ryan, in May. Ryan's older brother who is 2 1/2 joined in on the fun, and we got some adorable photos of him as well.



We shot photographs of Mommy, Mommy and Daddy, Mommy and Big Brother and Mommy, Daddy and Big Brother. A good variety of images. Loved the blue shirts that they brought along. =)

It's called LDPT - Learning Digital Photography Together. We are a medium sized forum that is dedicated to those who are just starting out and learning how to use their cameras. The majority of our members are Hobbyists to Semi-Pros, many of which have taken the next step and started successful photography businesses.

High School Senior Portraits 04.04.07

For the first time in months, I finally got an overcast afternoon at the beach. I swear, every photo shoot I've done in the last year has been in bright sun. Finally, beautiful light from overcast skies - the Photograph Gods smiled upon us today.



Today's session - High School senior portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado. Ashley did a great job and was a lot of fun to work with. Here's a little secret for her friends - if you ever want her to smile, just tell her NOT to smile. Works every time (ha ha).



Even though we do a lot of photo shoots at the Hotel Del, I'm always looking for new locations for shooting. Today we wandered into the small courtyard within the hotel, and I'm loving the photos that we got there. I will definitely be back.



Finally, because I told Ashley that her blue eyes would look really cool in black and white, here's a sample.

Newborn baby photos 04.03.07

This evening we got to meet Bianca, a three week old beautiful baby girl. She did exceptionally well for a three week old. Aside from a couple of snack breaks, she was a real trooper.
