Pregnancy photos 01.27.07

Today we had a maternity photo shoot with another expectant Mommy. She is expecting a little baby girl, whose name will be Kayleigh (love the spelling).



We used a lot of spotlighting today, it's become my new favorite style of lighting. Lighting is so much more fun with maternity photos (it's all about the belly!)

Baby Photos 01.26.07

This evening we photographed Gianluca, a three week old beautiful baby boy.

He wasn't terribly thrilled with the idea of being on his tummy, but we still got some beautiful photographs as you can tell.



Boy does this little guy like to eat! Like our son Gavin, he is a grazer! Little guy just couldn't get enough!




We also did maternity photos for this customer a couple of months ago, and these baby photographs turned out just as beautiful as the maternity photos.

Another day, another beautiful baby girl.



While Madeline may not quite qualify for a "newborn" at five weeks, she still was pretty tiny. Like most little ones, she did require two snack breaks (modeling is harder than most people think). A little fussing here and there, but she did very well.

Newborn photography 01.20.07

One of the best things about being a Photographer who specializes in maternity and newborn photos is meeting expecting parents and then meeting them again right after they have had their baby.



Today we met Alex, just ten days old. Mom and Dad visited us in December for their maternity photos. Alex needed a couple of snack breaks, but did a stellar job in his first modeling gig.



Luckily for us he was awake for the majority of our session, so we got plenty of beautiful photos of him with his eyes open.

Maternity photos 01.13.07

Had another maternity photo session at our studio today. Shot a lot of variety with this session.



Some photos with just Mommy, and some with Mommy and Daddy. They will also be coming back next month with baby for their newborn photography.

Tried some more tinkering with the honeycomb lights, using them to spotlight different areas. I'm really liking using two honeycombs on maternity photos, one to highlight the face and one for the belly. Love the way that looks.

San Diego studio portrait photography 01.12.07

Love is in the air....Tonight we had an appointment with a young woman who wanted to surprise her Husband with some headshot style photographs for Valentine's Day.



I used the 10 degree honeycomb a lot tonight, some times as the only light, and some times as a hair light, with a large softbox as the main light.



We had a fun time, and got a nice collection of very good closeup photos. I hope we can make her Hubby happy for Valentine's Day!

Newborn photography 01.07.07

Another day, another beautiful baby girl. Amelia, just ten days old, and her parents visited us today for newborn photos.

A little fussy at first, but a full belly and some soothing from Mommy and Daddy, and it was night night time.

Quite a variety of beautiful photographs, and today I decided to have some fun with the 10 degree honeycomb. Pamela held the light, and we tried some different spotlight effects. This is one of my favorites.

Today we had the pleasure of doing some newborn photography with Cailin and her parents. Cailin is just ten days old - perfect for newborn photography.



She was an angel, and was a true professional in front of the camera. She needed just one snack break during the long session.

Tonight we had the pleasure of meeting Sean. Born on 12.16.06, he weighed just over four pounds. He's already "way up" to six pounds and growing every day.
